Fresh Cut Grass

It’s a gorgeous spring day and the air is filled with song. The trees are swaying in the wind and the birds are out in full force. The whirring sound of a lawnmower can be heard in the distance. All you have to do is take one whiff to know what that smell is. It’s the distinctive smell of fresh cut grass. Memories of a thousand summer days sweep through my mind.

Laughter fills my mind. Children playing. Long endless days of carefree joy at your finger tips. Oh how all we want to do as children is to grow up. If we only knew that we would want to squeeze back into our tiny little bodies and live there forever. The pressures of work and raising a family and staying alive zap us of this carefree joy of our childhood. If only we could hold on to that simplicity and freedom. If only there was a way.

You and I will never be children again. We will never be able to go back there. But our hearts can be filled with joy. Our souls can be filled. The cares and the worries of they day can be hoisted off our backs. All our burdens relieved. We can stand in the presence of God and every tear and every pain will be gone. We will be like new. All our fears will melt like butter in the hot sun.

The great news is that we don’t have to wait till the end of our lives on earth. We don’t have to wait to enter heaven to feel the abundance of it now! All the love and joy you could ever need in this life is right here right now.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 – Jesus.
