Loving Yourself
It seems like every post I see on social media is about someone who has more than me in just about every way. I’m seeing bigger cars, better jobs, more achievement, and just people appearing to have more accomplished lives.
In my quiet time today, Jesus tells me that time is irrelevant in the kingdom. Our spirit and our souls have no age. He says this is not a competition. It’s not about beating out another person to win the prize. It’s not about being on top of the mountain and getting the most toys.
He said to me that:
“Your life is a journey. A beautiful special journey that is tailor-made just for you. There will be struggles and victories. There will be highs and lows. The idea is to just keep going and remember that this life is not just about doing things. It’s about being in a relationship with me (him).”
It’s all about the journey. It’s all about growing and loving people. It’s about loving YOURSELF! Jesus says that the greatest commandment is to “love your neighbor as you love YOURSELF”. Mark 12:31
Self-esteem is a huge issue for me. You see I grew up in a household that was rooted in criticism. When you have a parent that parents out of criticism instead of love, it can be a difficult journey to love yourself. I am constantly catching myself putting myself down. I’ve written a blog on here called FASTING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS. You can read about my journey <<HERE>>. It’s a super-powerful thing to do!
The bottom line here is that God is NOT counting your flaws. He is not picking out everything that is wrong with you. He wants you to love yourself as HE loves you!
