Relaxing with Meditation and Devotions
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
Reading the word of God is so incredibly powerful. It can take you from confusion and sadness to clarity and joy in seconds .. because it is alive! It’s a living word transcribed from God straight to our minds. I know, you probably have set aside time to maybe read your bible and soak up its amazing goodness, but your mind keeps racing. Maybe you like to read a devotional, but you feel rushed to absorb its meaning.
Now is a good time to stop and relax.
Draw on all of your senses. Breathe deep. Give yourself permission to relax. Shut out all of the noises inside and outside of your mind. Just be …… God is not interested in a performance from you. He’s searching for a still heart. He’s searching for a heart that will put down every distraction, even if just for a few minutes, to be with him.
Sometimes it’s hard to get your mind to a still place. I know because I struggle with this too at times. There’s always something vying for attention. This fast-paced world we live in, and the seemingly constant attachment to our computers and phones is always luring us.
Right now, this moment, you have permission to stop. Yes, God is ok with you stepping away for a moment to focus on you and him.
Still struggling? Try a guided meditation. Try putting on soothing music. Go for a walk in nature.
