The Lion of Judah Arises: A Prophetic Vision for the Church

Think back to the year 2021. This was a year of tumultuous upheaval. Covid hit the shores of our country and people everywhere were in panic. I’m so thankful for the church I was going to at the time. We chose to stand our ground against this plague and confront it from a spiritual perspective.

God was not afraid of it and neither was he caught by surprise at its coming. It was during the worship at the church that God showed me the image that inspired the art I have posted here. I call it the Lion of Judah Arises.

The Vision

In the vision I saw this baby lion cub and it morphed into a grown male lion. What the Lord was showing me was that the church was like a baby lion cub. The baby lion by itself was not capable of being ferocious like its grown self. God was using the circumstance in our world to take that baby, the church, and grow it up into the strong, capable, lion who was able to defend and take down strongholds.

As a church we were not strong then. We had never faced anything of this magnitude. We didn’t have the muscle or the experience to fight such a giant.

Many years have passed now and I’d say that that lion is probably somewhere in his teens. Still needs guidance and trial and error to learn. So don’t despise these hard lessons. They are not from God, but God can use them to wake us up and grow us into the strong lion that can represent the Lion of Judah that needs to be in the forefront and lead the nations.

Scripture

Revelation 5:5

Then one of the [twenty-four] elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look closely, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome and conquered! He can open the scroll and [break] its seven seals.”

Devotional

Think about the ways that you have grown over the last few years since all the changes have taken place in our world. Ask the Lord to show how he has taken your sorrows and turned them into beauty. Maybe you have things, or people in your life that died, or the relationship was lost. How did God use that in your life? Did he bring you closer to him or bring new relationships? In what ways do you think God is molding you into the lion that shares the victories of the Lion of Judah?

Prayer

Father, I know you work all things for good. Even those things that were hard and that the enemy tried to destroy. I know that your hand is greater and more powerful than any demon or entity on this earth. I thank you today for protecting me from things that I don’t even know I need protection from. Thank you for being the Lion of Judah that is worthy to take the scroll and for building me up to be a conqueror through your love.
