A Rainy Day At Watson Mill Covered Bridge

North Georgia is filled with beauty and romance. Not the kind of romance that lovers engage in, although we have that too, I’m talking about the romance of the old south.

It was a rainy day when I decided to venture out to Comer, Georgia, to photograph this old historic covered bridge. It was built in 1885 and it’s 229 feet long .. the longest covered bridge in Georgia.

Apparently, this bridge was built to lead to the mills in the area. Most of the mills in this area were for grinding grain, or grists, most likley corn or soft wheat.

Those of us from the south call ground corn grits, and this is a delicasy here. I am a total grits girl myself. Not only grits, but corn bread … yum! 

Here is the view of the mill bridge from the inside. I had to duck inside when a little drizzly rain set in.

And the rain shot .. I Always carry a raincoat and umbrella when I go out shooting! Some of the best shots are taken in the rain. And look how nice and green the grass is from all that rain!

So, it was a wet and soggy day for a minute. The sun did come out eventually and I got the nice after rain sky. It pays to wait it out!
