Lessons from Gideon: Are You Ready for the Battle?

Gideon started with thirty-two thousand men. By the time God was done, he had three hundred. God didn’t make the army bigger to win the battle — He made it smaller. That’s the picture the Lord points us to here:

“For there’s a battle coming and I need my warriors. Think of Gideon. Think of his army as they grow smaller and smaller.”

Weeded Out, Not Wiped Out

Every man God removed from Gideon’s army wasn’t a loss — he just wasn’t the one for this particular fight. The ones who remained weren’t more people, they were the right people:

“As I weeded out the soldiers who could not fight and did not know Me, I had the right men in that army who could fight through my spirit.”

What God Is Looking For Now

This is the same thing happening again, God says — not a search for numbers, but a search for readiness:

“That is what I need now from my army. I need voices and hearts that know Me to defeat this giant in the land.”

Are You With Me?

The question isn’t whether the army is big enough. It’s whether you’re one of the ones who’s actually ready:
