Birds are some of the most magnificent and beautiful creatures God ever made. Their beautiful feathers and bright unique colors just amaze me. Each one is so different and yet each species is identical to itself. What ingenious engineering went into creating these magnificent creatures!

Upon getting my Nikon 200-500mm lens I was out of luck getting the detail that I wanted photographing them. Not to mention getting close without scaring them away.

All of that changed when I got my little hide, as I mentioned in my first welcome blog post.

My little hide became like a refuge for me as well during the 2020 madness. It was so peaceful and quiet in there listening to the birds in the trees as they began to settle down and come near enough for me to get the best shots of them, right in my own backyard!

Here are a few of my favorites.

As you can see from my screenshot data all of these shots were taken right around the golden hour of sunlight. That’s my favorite time to shoot. The light is so beautiful. The little bluebird posed quite nicely for me right in the sunbeam!

I also like shooting on cloudy days because the clouds provide this nice even filter of light. The mockingbird and the brown thrasher were taken that way. It’s also nice to shoot on cloudy days because you can spend all day any time of day without waiting for that perfect light.
